In late 2023, submissions closed for the Department of Internal Affairs' Safer Online Services and Media Platforms proposal. The proposal was led by the Department itself, rather than the then-Government given proximity to the election period.
The future of the SOSMP proposal is unclear at present. While submissions will be released publicly by DIA in future, we wanted to share our submission so it can be accessed by others – including people with an interest in New Zealand's approach outside New Zealand.
